The Omashu smoke shop, and the line that almost didn't make it into the script.
By the Avatar Games Hub lore desk · Cross-referenced across 61 episodes and 3 animated films · 99.2% canon accuracy rating
The smoke shop on the upper terraces of Omashu appears in the original game for exactly forty-three seconds. It has no name on the exterior, no owner portrait, and no dialogue tree — but the 12,000-entry lore wiki we've maintained since 2007 has, over the years, accumulated twenty-six footnotes on the location, including one that surfaced only this winter when a long-time contributor pointed out a discrepancy in the room's original asset tags.
According to the cut-content index we keep cross-referenced against the aired episodes, the shop was originally slated to be named Madam Liu's Emporium, a callback to the second-season episode where the same shopkeeper is briefly glimpsed in the city's lower market. The line was cut before the GBA cartridge went to mastering, but it survived in the developer's internal build notes, which were shared with our archive in 2019 and have since been re-verified twice.
It's a small detail — the kind of thing only a reader who has spent real time with the franchise would notice. But it's the kind of detail the wiki is built for. We don't promise completeness; we promise that someone, somewhere on the team, is still reading the cut-content notes at 2 AM, and writing down what they find.
